Air Combat Training | Air Test Instrumentation Subsystems
Cubic is the leading provider of air combat training systems worldwide. Aircrews rely on our systems to help them train for combat missions more effectively and with less risk. We integrate airborne and ground subsystems into a common operational picture that provides situational awareness for aircrews at training sites throughout the world.
We adapt and update our systems in response to improvements in technology and to meet new and more demanding requirements of our customers as the needs and capabilities for training expand.
System Applications
Cubic’s air combat training systems and now test instrumentation perform unique functions. However, they share some common technology. They are each designed to measure the readiness and effectiveness of weapon systems and pilots to perform a mission whether training in a combat-like environment or testing weapon system capabilities. For the test environment, we provide and integrate air and ground subsystems. For air combat training, we provide and integrate complete system solutions.
Air Combat Training Systems
Our air combat training systems are essential to aircrew mission readiness. Fighter and attack pilots use our systems during live training flights to gain tactical proficiency and test their skills during mock battles in the sky. With our systems, they rehearse air combat maneuvers, weapons delivery, threat avoidance, and situational awareness during live training exercises. Simulated missile fly outs, no drop bomb scoring, and real time casualty assessments are key features of our system. Our systems provide the precise accuracy and recording of critical parameters in flight to enable aircrews to measure, assess, and improve individual and collective performance, and prevail in future combat situations. The training debriefs provide a complete reconstruction of the training flights for all aircraft and allows the instructor to provide a comprehensive evaluation to each pilot..
We provide complete instrumentation for live air combat training, including post-exercise debriefs. Our airborne instrumentation systems combined with our ground subsystems enable aircrews to conduct, monitor, and control live training exercises in real time, and replay them for post flight debriefing.
Air Test Instrumentation Subsystems
Based on its extensive domain knowledge of air combat training instrumentation technology, Cubic has developed and delivered test instrumentation for use in testing of Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) guidance kits. We are also part of the Rockwell Collins team developing a new generation of airborne instrumentation for Test and Evaluation ranges. As part of this team, we are developing some components and integrating these and other components into both internally- and externally- mounted airborne instrumentation for use in various flight testing environments. In both cases, the purpose of these systems is to evaluate the capabilities of weapons systems to ensure they meet operational warfighting, combat support, and training requirements. In this environment, our equipment measures and records various parameters of multiple aircraft performing the tests for real-time and post flight analysis.
