    <description>PATCO open payment program continues to yield valuable information&amp;#160; for the future of transit payment systems
CAMDEN, N.J., July 10, 2012 – The open payment program between PATCO (Port Authority Transit Corporation) and Cubic Transportation Systems, Inc.,&amp;#160; (NYSE: CUB) expands today with the acceptance of American Express contactless payment cards at all PATCO gates and parking terminals.
Now, riders will be able to use American Express contactless payment cards, as well as cards from other major payment networks to make secure transit payments at PATCO.
Cubic officials said that while the expansion of the PATCO open payment program will result in riders carrying fewer plastic payment cards in their purses and wallets and will move riders through PATCO’s stations faster than ever, there is another benefit to the program.
“The expansion of the PATCO program is enabling Cubic to gain tremendous technical information on deploying and operating contactless payment systems in other transit systems,” said Steve Shewmaker, president, Cubic Transportation Systems Worldwide. “The people of New Jersey and Pennsylvania who ride PATCO are helping to design the transit payments systems of the future.”
“American Express is committed to enabling the next generation of payments for our merchants and Cardmembers,” says Patricia Partelow, vice president, New Product Development for American Express’ Global Network Business. “Contactless transit payments are gaining momentum, and we are excited to partner with PATCO and Cubic on their contactless transit program. American Express Cardmembers with contactless cards will benefit from this new technology that enables faster and more convenient payments at PATCO gates and parking terminals.”&amp;#160;
&amp;#160;“PATCO continues to be impressed by the hard work and technical know-how that Cubic is bringing to our system,” said Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) CEO and PATCO President John J. Matheussen. “We’re proud to know that information gathered here will be used to improve the transit station experience of riders all over the world in the coming years.”

    <title>Cubic to Sponsor Tube Anniversary</title>
    <link>http://www.cubic.com/News/Press-Releases/ID/407/Cubic-to-Sponsor-Tube-Anniversary</link>
    <description>SAN DIEGO, CALIF., June 13, 2012 -- Cubic Transportation Systems, a business segment of San Diego-based Cubic Corporation (NYSE:CUB), and a leading integrator of payment and information technology and&amp;#160;services for intelligent travel solutions, is proud to announce that it is to be the lead industry sponsor for next year’s 150th anniversary of the London Underground, the world’s oldest underground railway.

Ticketing and fare collection for the four million passenger journeys made on the Tube daily are handled by&amp;#160;Cubic as part of its role as prime contractor for the provision of revenue services, ticketing, information for transport ticketing and fare collection within the Transport for London (TfL) system, which includes the London Underground, London Overground, buses and river bus services.
&amp;#160;
Cubic has worked with TfL and its predecessor London Transport since the 1970s on revolutionary developments in ticketing, not least of which has been the continued successful rollout of the Oyster card since its introduction in 2003. Today Oyster accounts for more than 80% of journeys taken on the TfL network and with over 50 million cards issued, it is the world’s most prolific and successful smart card ticketing system. But the story doesn’t end there: Ongoing developments and new technologies are focused on delivering increased value, choice and service improvements for London public transport users, making transport in the capital even more convenient.

A wide range of events and activities is planned to mark the London Underground’s 150th anniversary event, including a special exhibition, commemorative stamps and coins, plus a series of steam train runs.&amp;#160;

Sam Mullins, director of the London Transport Museum, is playing a key role in driving the celebrations. “We have a close and long-term association with Cubic through its sponsorship of the Museum theatre and are delighted that the company has opted to broaden that association through sponsorship of this high-profile anniversary,” he said.

Roger Crow, European managing director at Cubic Transportation Systems, commented, “We’re delighted to show our ongoing support for London Underground during what will be an extremely special year. We work extremely closely with LU on the daily business of ticketing and revenue services and also on the modernization of the network. 2013 will provide the opportunity to look back at the evolution of the world’s busiest and most complex urban transportation system – and to marvel at the feat of moving millions of passengers around on a daily basis. And for Cubic, it’s also an occasion to look forward to the new initiatives we’re implementing with TfL to make taking the Tube as easy and convenient as possible.”&amp;#160;

Steve Shewmaker, president of Cubic Transportation Systems, added, “The entire Cubic Corporation is fully behind the 150th anniversary celebrations.&amp;#160; This support underscores Cubic’s complete commitment to London and to helping make public transportation&amp;#160;in&amp;#160;one of the world’s greatest cities as simple and convenient to use as possible.”&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;

The 150th anniversary of London Underground will not only look at the Tube’s past, but also its important role in the London economy and why continued investment to its aging network is so crucial for the Tube’s customers.&amp;#160;

    <title>Cubic’s Customer Tops One Million Mobile Transit Tickets Sold in Frankfurt </title>
    <link>http://www.cubic.com/News/Press-Releases/ID/404/Cubics-Customer-Tops-One-Million-Mobile-Transit-Tickets-Sold-in-Frankfurt</link>
    <description>
SAN DIEGO, CALIF., May 23, 2012 – Cubic Transportation Systems, a business unit of Cubic Corporation (NYSE:CUB) and a leading integrator of payment and information technology and services for intelligent travel solutions, announced that Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund GmbH (RMV), one of Europe’s largest transport associations, and a Cubic customer, has sold more than one million mobile phone transit tickets with Cubic’s smartphone app and mobile ticketing solution.

RMV oversees transit services in the Frankfurt, Germany, region, including 153 transit operators that accept tickets generated by Cubic’s app.
&amp;#160;
RMV’s “HandyTicket” service lets riders pay for and download single rides, day passes and group day passes all from their mobile phone quickly, easily and without cash. Since the introduction of Cubic’s new mobile app in October 2010 for iPhone, Android and Blackberry smart phones, the number of users has rocketed to more than 40,000.

Additionally, RMV equips its train stations and bus shelters with “ConTags” (“Kontaktpunkten” in German), usable by travelers with NFC-enabled devices that customers tap with their smartphones to enter the transit system and automatically enter their starting location. The destination is selected from the RMV ticketing screen on the phone and the ticket is charged to the customer’s bank card associated with his or her RMV account. A 2-D barcode ticket – similar to an airline boarding pass – is transmitted to the phone and can be verified by an inspector upon request.

&amp;#160;“We’re pleased to see the strong uptake of our mobile ticketing solution, clear proof that transit customers find it very convenient and easy to use,” said Stefan Jacobs, managing director for Cubic Transportation Systems (Deutschland) GmbH, “We are looking forward to continuing our work with RMV, constantly striving to improve applications and to develop new ones, always with the aim of making life simpler for many thousands of travelers.”

    <title>Cubic Transportation Systems in Partnership with Transport for London and ATOC Scoops Top Award at 2012 International Transport Forum</title>
    <link>http://www.cubic.com/News/Press-Releases/ID/400/Cubic-Transportation-Systems-in-Partnership-with-Transport-for-London-and-ATOC-Scoops-Top-Award-at-2012-International-Transport-Forum</link>
    <description>Successful extension of Oyster onto the National Rail network&amp;#160;in Greater London acclaimed by judging panel

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – May 11, 2012 – Cubic Transportation Systems (NYSE:CUB), Transport for London (TfL) and the Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) have been awarded the prestigious Transport Achievement Award at the 2012 International Transport Forum ceremony in Leipzig, Germany. Awarded to a project, initiative or service offering that demonstrates progress towards the vision of seamless transport, the partnership was applauded for its outstanding work in introducing Oyster to the National Rail network in London.

Cubic worked closely with TfL, ATOC and the train companies to upgrade National Rail services in Greater London so that stations not on the Underground could form part of the seamless Oyster network and enable passengers to reap the rewards of using a fully integrated, flexible smartcard.

Since January 2010, 350 National Rail stations in London have been able to accept Oyster “pay as you go,” and usage on services operating in the area has increased from half a million to over 2.5 million journeys per week. Passengers are now able to use their Oyster card on multiple modes of transport in the capital – including National Rail services, the Underground, the Overground, the DLR and buses.

Roger Crow, Cubic managing director for Europe, said, “We are delighted to have been recognized with this prestigious award, alongside our colleagues at TfL and ATOC.&amp;#160; This major project success showcases what can be achieved by a truly collaborative partnership and we are very proud of the difference that we and our partners make to the daily travel experience of so many.”

Shashi Verma, TfL’s director of customer experience, said, &quot;Extending Oyster coverage to all 350 National Rail stations in Greater London has been a massive improvement for passengers. The Mayor was determined to make that happen and recognition of the achievement is hugely encouraging. We will continue to explore even more ways to improve customer experience.&quot;

Peter Twigg, head of London Support at ATOC, said, “The extension of Oyster ‘pay as you go’ to National Rail has been a fantastic success. The aim was to make public transport around the capital easier for thousands of rail passengers every day. The huge take up since its launch shows that customers really appreciate the benefits that Oyster offers. It took huge amounts of joint work behind the scenes by train companies, TfL, Cubic and the Government, so recognition through this award is gratifying for all involved.”

    <title>Cubic and UC San Diego to Collaborate on Next Generation Intelligent Travel Research</title>
    <link>http://www.cubic.com/News/Press-Releases/ID/399/Cubic-and-UC-San-Diego-to-Collaborate-on-Next-Generation-Intelligent-Travel-Research</link>
    <description>Cubic grants $500,000 over five years for technology research to benefit travelers
&amp;#160;SAN DIEGO, Calif. – May 10, 2012 - Cubic Transportation Systems (NYSE:CUB), a leading integrator of intelligent transport systems and services, and the Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California San Diego (UC San Diego), one of the world&#39;s leading public research universities, have entered into a collaborative partnership to research the next generation of intelligent travel technologies for cities.

Cubic will contribute $500,000 over five years to the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering to fund research done by faculty, students and Cubic Transportation Systems staff.&amp;#160; The project aims to achieve a better understanding of the application and utilization of emerging technologies, with the ultimate goal of making transportation easier, more convenient, more economical and environmentally greener for transit operators and their customers.&amp;#160;

“The partnership with UC San Diego will help Cubic realize its vision of mobility in the future – what we call Nextcity,” said Matt Cole, senior vice president of strategy and business development. “Consumer mobile devices, wireless communications and account-based payment processing create the opportunity to make significant new information available to travelers.”&amp;#160;

Through integration of regional transport payments and traveler data, Nextcity will deliver personalized information to passengers so they can make informed travel choices. “Our&amp;#160; research will make better use of the existing data and seek innovative ways to apply this information and technology to better the traveler’s experience, and improve the efficiency and utilization of the transportation system and a city’s resources,” said Pradip Mistry, vice president of engineering.

The research partnership potentially spans mobile and web technologies, wireless networking, location-based services, data warehousing and system architecture and analytics, all areas of expertise at the university.

Combining the broad scope of the university’s research expertise across these domains with Cubic’s insight into the transportation sector will be instrumental to finding practical yet innovative new approaches, said Frieder Seible, Dean of the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering and holder of the Walter J. Zable Professor endowed chair at the school. “Cubic has been a long-standing partner of UC San Diego and the Jacobs School, and we see this new collaboration as a way to deepen that relationship with our faculty and students.”

Cubic is the global leader in intelligent transport systems and services. With Cubic’s “smart” fare payment cards and advanced integrated ticketing systems users board vehicles faster, travel and transfer between modes more easily. Transit operators see the benefits of shorter boarding times and better data on transport usage patterns.&amp;#160;

Cubic is also supporting account-based processing for open payment standards, enabling transit riders to use their own fare media, such as a bank-issued MasterCard PayPass or Visa payWave credit, debit and prepaid contactless smart cards or an NFC-enabled mobile phone.

With more than 20 years of contactless smart card payment experience in the transit industry, Cubic has active open payment projects with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Transport for London (TfL), TransLink in Vancouver and New Jersey and Delaware’s Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) system, the first in the world to use transit-branded contactless Visa prepaid cards. Account-based processing opens up the opportunity for the integration of transit payment with other forms of transport payment such as tolling and parking.

The Cubic and UC San Diego research collaboration will help discover new technologies and strategies that reduce the costs and increase the utility of these services.

    <title>Advisory Board to Help Shape Cubic Strategy for the Future of Intelligent Travel</title>
    <link>http://www.cubic.com/News/Press-Releases/ID/397/Advisory-Board-to-Help-Shape-Cubic-Strategy-for-the-Future-of-Intelligent-Travel</link>
    <description>SAN DIEGO, Calif., May 7, 2012 - Cubic Transportation Systems has announced the appointment of a strategic advisory board to support and guide the company’s senior management team.

Cubic has led the revenue collection market for the past four decades, delivering solutions that have been deployed in helping transit agencies lower their costs, increase convenience and improve positive public perceptions of the transit system. Over that time, the company has been responsible for many of the most significant advances in the sector.

“We are in a period of considerable change,” commented Cubic Transportation Systems president Steve Shewmaker, “with transit agencies and state governments confronted with the dual challenge of reduced access to capital and operating budgets at a time of high population growth, urbanization and an increased demand for mobility.

“Cubic is helping its customers to respond to these challenges by changing its business to become a more agile partner and to think longer-term about how we can support them in shaping positive responses to the rapidly changing dynamics confronting them. We’re investing more than ever before in research and development, and continue to seek strategic acquisitions to accelerate our capabilities. The establishment of an advisory board comprising a small number of extremely accomplished and highly respected individuals is an important step in the transformation of our business.”

Those appointed to the board are:

Secretary Norman Mineta, who served under President Bill Clinton as Secretary for Commerce, before spending more than&amp;#160; five years as President George W. Bush’s Transport Secretary – the only Democrat in President Bush’s Cabinet.

Willie L. Brown, Jr., Mayor of San Francisco from 1996-2004 and Speaker of the California State Assembly from 1980-1995.

Robert D Jamison, a proven leader on transportation security and transportation infrastructure, who served as Deputy Administrator of the Federal Transit Administration and Acting Administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration. He also served as Deputy Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration. In 2007, he was confirmed by the Senate to be Under Secretary for the Department of Homeland Security.

Steven Norris stood as a candidate for Mayor of London in 2000 and 2004. A former Transport minister in John Major’s government, he chaired the transport working group in Conservative Party leader David Cameron&#39;s Quality of Life Commission.

The Honourable Bruce Baird AM, was Minister for Transport in New South Wales from 1988-95, Minister for Sydney&#39;s Olympic bid between 1990-93 and Minister for Tourism and Roads from 1993-95. In 2008, he was appointed Chairman of the Tourism and Transport Forum, a peak industry lobby group.

&amp;#160;“We’re delighted that our strategic decision-making process will now be informed by such a powerful cohort of transportation sector thought leaders providing guidance to Cubic’s senior management team in the areas of market expansion, transit policy and technology,” Shewmaker said. “Their contribution to the future direction of our company will be invaluable and we welcome them warmly to the team.”
&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;

    <title>Cubic Introduces Account-Based Open Payment Platform for Next Generation Contactless AFC Systems </title>
    <link>http://www.cubic.com/News/Press-Releases/ID/391/Cubic-Introduces-Account-Based-Open-Payment-Platform-for-Next-Generation-Contactless-AFC-Systems</link>
    <description>Sets the stage for travelers to be able to use contactless bank cards, student ID and mobile phones as their smart ticket, as well as transit-issued smart cards
&amp;#160;
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – April 11, 2012 - Cubic Transportation Systems, a leading integrator of intelligent transport systems and services, has introduced Nextaccount, the first of several new products in Cubic’s solution systems portfolio for the next generation of fully integrated Automated Fare Collection (AFC) systems.&amp;#160;

The new platform provides the NFC and contactless smart card interface and transit fare processing engine that enable transit operators to give travelers the convenience of using an account to pay for travel or using open payment fare media, such as contactless bank-issued credit, debit and prepaid contactless smart cards, as well as transit-issued smart cards, as their ticket.
&amp;#160;
Nextaccount will also pave the way for mobile payment and ticketing solutions in transit, giving travelers the ability to pay transit fares directly at the point of travel with Near Field Communications-equipped (NFC) mobile phones.&amp;#160; Further, Nextaccount will collect payment from any other smart card-based “secure token” that is linked to an account such as transit-issued contactless smart cards or employer and student ID cards that conform to the ISO 14443 contactless standard.

&amp;#160;“The transit industry is on the verge of a transformation, and Nextaccount creates the ability for transit agencies to continue to reduce their cost of fare collection while improving the traveler and customer experience,” said Matt Cole, Cubic’s senior vice president of Strategy and Business Development.&amp;#160; “This development reflects Cubic’s commitment to leading the evolution of the fare collection industry.”

In traditional smart card-based fare payment systems, the transit value resides in a contactless chip inside the transit card, and transactions are managed and tracked on the card.&amp;#160; With account-based payment, the transit value resides in a transit account in Nextaccount, and is accessed via a digital signature read from a transit card by the fare payment system.&amp;#160;

Adoption of an account-based system also enables open payment and lets consumers directly use their bank-issued contactless cards to pay for trips.&amp;#160; In this way consumers will pay for transit services just like they pay for any other retail purchase, using their contactless credit or debit cards as they board buses or pass through metro turnstiles, eliminating the extra step of buying a transit fare card or token.&amp;#160;

For transit agencies who don’t want to issue their own fare cards, moving to open payment reduces the need to procure, encode, distribute, and support literally millions of magnetic tickets or contactless smart cards. It will also reduce the amount of cash collected, reduce cash handling costs and the associated infrastructure investments, and reduce fraud and fraud management costs.

The Nextaccount solution evolved from Cubic’s signature Nextfare platform now in use in many of the world’s major transit systems. Nextfare was the first fare collection system compliant with the industry standards that govern open architecture.&amp;#160; Nextaccount can operate in parallel with an existing Nextfare system or as a standalone solution and provides transit agencies with an easy upgrade path to acceptance of open payments and other account-based instruments.

Nextaccount is also the newest product in the Nextcity solutions portfolio, Cubic’s vision of mobility in the future.&amp;#160;Through integration of regional transport payments and traveler data, Nextcity will deliver personalized proactive information to citizens so they can make informed travel choices.&amp;#160;Nextcity does not require the addition of new infrastructure, instead leveraging existing assets to manage cross-modal demand and set regional pricing across modes.
&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;
With more than 20 years of contactless smart card payment experience in the transit industry, Cubic has active open payment projects at the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Transport for London (TfL), Vancouver and the Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) system, the first in the world to use transit-branded all contactless Visa prepaid cards.

“The Smart Card Alliance’s transit industry members are actively focused on transitioning to account-based and open payment models, and eventually mobile payment that will utilize the same infrastructure as contactless bank card systems,” said Randy Vanderhoof, executive director of the multi-industry non-profit educational organization.&amp;#160; “Cubic’s efforts to smooth this transition are tightly aligned with the direction the market is headed.”
&amp;#160; &amp;#160;
Cubic&#174; Transportation Systems, Inc. is the world&#39;s leading turnkey solution provider of automated fare collection systems for public transport including bus, bus rapid transit, light rail, commuter rail, heavy rail, ferry and parking. <title>PATCO Pilot Moves Into Phase Two, Accepting MasterCard and Discover in Addition to Visa Contactless Payment Cards</title>
    <link>http://www.cubic.com/News/Press-Releases/ID/389/PATCO-Pilot-Moves-Into-Phase-Two-Accepting-MasterCard-and-Discover-in-Addition-to-Visa-Contactless-Payment-Cards</link>
    <description>PATCO Wave &amp;amp; Pay card pilot program introduces Ride Free for 100 Days contest
CAMDEN, N.J., April 4, 2012 -- Cubic Transportation Systems, Inc., a business segment of Cubic Corporation (NYSE:CUB) and the integrator of intelligent transport systems and services that created the PATCO Wave &amp;amp; Pay ANYWHERE Visa&#174; Prepaid Card, has announced Phase Two of the open payment pilot program. During Phase two, riders will be able to use a plastic contactless Visa, MasterCard or Discover card, or a virtual card in a mobile wallet, to make secure transit payments at PATCO (Port Authority Transit Corporation) gates and parking terminals.

Riders will simply tap their cards and go, paying their PATCO fares with a quick flick of the wrist.
Officials from Cubic said the PATCO pilot program is designed not only to speed riders through PATCO’s stations, but also to gain valuable technical information on the best practices for deploying and operating future contactless payment systems in other transit systems. This will include Chicago where Cubic is under contract to deliver open payment.
“Cubic is excited about Phase Two of the PATCO pilot,” said Steve Shewmaker, president, Cubic Transportation Systems Worldwide. “This is all about making wallets slimmer and life for the transit agency and their customers even more convenient.”
In 2011, PATCO partnered with Cubic Transportation Systems to create the first transit-agency branded, all contactless Visa prepaid card in the world. This was among one of the first times that consumers had been able to use the same transit payment card for both transit and retail purchases. That prepaid payment card, the Wave &amp;amp; Pay ANYWHERE Card, debuted on September 26, 2011, as Phase One of the PATCO pilot program.
“We are pleased to continue our partnership with Cubic and Visa on this groundbreaking pilot,” said Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) CEO and PATCO President John J. Matheussen. “Open payment – combining a transit payment card with a full-service retail payment card – is the future of transit fare collection. The PATCO Wave &amp;amp; Pay ANYWHERE Visa Prepaid Card ensures that all of our riders have access to a new level of payment convenience and security.”
During Phase One, PATCO riders could pay all of their PATCO fees with the PATCO branded Wave &amp;amp; Pay card, and then use the same card to pick up a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread on the way home. There has never been an enrollment fee to acquire a Wave &amp;amp; Pay card and take part in the pilot program. Wave &amp;amp; Pay cards are still available for PATCO riders online at www.PATCOpilot.com.

Phase Two of the pilot program comes at the same time as Cubic’s Ride Free for 100 Days Contest, open to all PATCO riders.
“We want to reward PATCO riders for participating in this pilot, and a contest with several winners is a fun way to do it,” says Cubic’s Steve Brunner, vice president and regional director for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. “Everyone with a registered Wave &amp;amp; Pay card is eligible to win, and the more times a PATCO rider taps his or her card at the PATCO gates, the more chances they have to win.”
Three lucky PATCO riders will win $600, loaded directly on to their Wave &amp;amp; Pay cards. Prize winners will be selected at the end of March, April and May.
PATCO riders who do not yet have a Wave &amp;amp; Pay card can visit www.patcopilot.com/contest and complete the form to get a new card. There is no charge to get a Wave &amp;amp; Pay card, and no credit check is required. Once the new card is registered online, the cardholder is entered into the contest. Customers get a new chance to win every time they use their Wave &amp;amp; Pay cards.
PATCO riders who already have a registered Wave &amp;amp; Pay card can enter the contest at the same website, www.patcopilot.com/contest.
After the pilot ends, the PATCO Wave &amp;amp; Pay ANYWHERE Visa Prepaid Card will continue to be accepted everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted until the expiration date on the card.

The PATCO Card is issued by The Bancorp Bank pursuant to a license from Visa U.S.A. Inc. The Bancorp Bank; Member FDIC.

    <description>Company’s growth drives need for new position
SAN DIEGO, Calif., January 20, 2012 – Cubic Transportation Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of Cubic Corporation (NYSE:CUB), has named Mari McAvoy to the newly created position of Vice President, Worldwide Human Resources.&amp;#160;
The company created the position to support the high growth levels it has achieved in recent years. In 2011, the number of CTS employees increased by 10 percent to 1,600 around the world, and that trend is expected to continue.
Prior to her new position, McAvoy was HR director in charge of all North American HR activities.
“Mari’s advancement aligns with the increased sales, projects and innovations that continue to drive Cubic’s growth,” said Steve Shewmaker, president, Cubic Transportation Systems Worldwide. “Through Mari’s remarkable career track and her hard work and education, we recognize and congratulate her on her rise within our dynamic organization.”
McAvoy began her career at Cubic in 1995, working in the procurement and human resources departments. She later studied HR management at San Diego State University and earned a degree in organizational leadership from Chapman University.&amp;#160;
McAvoy is involved in a number of community outreach and volunteer activities, most notably Susan G. Komen for the Cure for breast cancer and Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County, through which she mentors an 8-year-old girl.&amp;#160;McAvoy was Cubic Transportation Systems’ recipient for the 2005 YWCA Tribute to Women in Industry (TWIN) award.&amp;#160;
Contributing to Cubic’s growth have been recent major contract wins, including London, Sydney, Vancouver and Chicago, as well as customer milestones that include the open-payment pilot program for the PATCO commuter rail line that runs from South New Jersey to Philadelphia and the 142 percent growth in active Clipper Cards from 2010 to 2011, as recently reported by the Metropolitan Transit Commission in the San Francisco Bay Area.&amp;#160;

    <title>Brisbane Celebrates Two Millionth go Card</title>
    <link>http://www.cubic.com/News/Press-Releases/ID/305/Brisbane-Celebrates-Two-Millionth-go-Card</link>
    <description>
Smart card system is one of Cubic’s largest fare collection projects
BRISBANE, Australia – June 15, 2011 - A new milestone has been reached for the smart card ticketing system in the Australian state of Queensland, with the state’s Transport Minister announcing the distribution of the two millionth go card. Cubic Transportation Systems, the transportation segment of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB), installed and operates the ticketing system for the Queensland Government.
Cubic’s Managing Director for Australasia, Matt Cole, said the ticketing system, which featured more than 10,000 pieces of equipment, was now recording more than 3 million trips a week. More than 80 percent of public transport trips are now on go cards.
&quot;Cubic is delighted to have played a part in the success of the go card system, which richly deserves the title awarded last year as the best smart card ticketing scheme for public transport in Australia,&quot; Cole said. The Queensland Government and the state’s transport coordination body, TransLink, deserved congratulations for the two millionth go card milestone, Cole said.
&quot;The smart card ticketing system for southeast Queensland was rolled out three years ago. This time last year we celebrated the one millionth go card - to double that figure in the next year is a remarkable accomplishment given the huge scale of the public transport network,&quot; he said.
&quot;This is not just a city ticketing scheme - it’s, geographically speaking, one of Cubic’s largest projects anywhere in the world. The Queensland project covers an area of 10,000 square kilometers, stretching from Brisbane to the coast, north to Noosa and south to the New South Wales border. In comparison the London Oyster card scheme covers an area of 1,600 square kilometers,&quot; he added.
To commemorate the milestone, Queensland’s Transport Minister, Annastacia Palaszczuk, presented a &quot;multiplatinum&quot; plaque to one of the top 10 go card retailers in the State. The milestone was achieved with the support of the many retailers who make up the largest smart card retail network in Australia, Palaszczuk said
&quot;We have undertaken significant investment across the go card distribution network resulting in a 150 percent growth in the past 18 months,&quot; she said.
The growth in go card use has assisted with planning improvements to the public transport network.
&quot;The travel data provided by go card is helping us to provide more frequent and reliable public transport, including 150,000 weekly train seats and 50,000 additional weekly bus seats we added to the TransLink network this month,&quot; Palaszczuk added.
&amp;#160;Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB) is the parent company of three major business segments: Defense Systems, Mission Support Services and Transportation Systems. Cubic Defense Systems is a leading provider of realistic combat training systems, cyber technologies, asset tracking solutions, and defense electronics.
