Innovation through Collaboration at Biannual ICADS Meeting
Innovation through Collaboration at Biannual ICADS Meeting

Cubic is the world leader in Air Combat Training Systems (ACTS) and is dedicated to continually improving its products' performance and customer experience. Earlier this month Cubic hosted its 5th Biannual ICADS International Users’ Group meeting. The meeting offers ICADS users from around the world an opportunity to meet with the United States Air Force and Cubic Global Defense to share their feedback and requirements.

All Cubic’s ACTS include  Individual Combat Aircrew Display System (ICADS) software. Cubic’s ICADS software is an advanced Windows-based aircrew combat display and debrief system operated globally. This state of the art software provides real-time monitoring and control, which allows users to communicate with pilots, control simulated threats, and fire simulated weapons in real-time. ICADS is a product that was developed and is maintained through continual dialogue with pilots, range managers, testers and evaluators. It continues to evolve through internal funding, customer funded upgrades, customer feedback, and biannual ICADS Users' Group meetings.

Over the years, these collaborations have lead to major enhancements including:

  • Live monitoring capabilities
  • Flexible integration of air and ground players
  • Increase in the number of aircraft participating in the exercise
  • Weapon Hypothesizer
  • Electronic warfare range integration

During the two-day event this month, aircrew and ICADS operators were given the opportunity to watch live demonstrations of new features and innovative uses of existing features, which included:

  • Interface updates
  • The addition of “constructive” threats into the scenario
  • A timeline view of events which allow users to jump to an event during debriefing
  • A shot log that simplifies shot assessment and reconstruction, saving users time
  • Merging of F-22 Time Space Position Information (TSPI) data
  • Integration with Google earth to enable a better view of air-ground integrated training

Cubic values the collaboration and input from its customers. It is their experiences operating ICADS at air ranges around the world that allow our engineers to constantly innovate and improve these critical training systems. The ICADS International Users’ Group is open to all ICADS users.

Cubic's President and CEO Selected to Wash100 list for Commitment and Forward Vision
Cubic's President and CEO Selected to Wash100 list for Commitment and Forward Vision

Since taking the reigns as Cubic Corporation’s president and CEO in July 2014, Bradley H. Feldmann has developed a new company mission, vision and values system that he hopes will propel the enduring company forward.

Recognizing his performance and efforts, Feldmann was chosen as the newest inductee to the Executive Mosaic’s Wash100 list of influential executives. Those selected are acknowledged for demonstrating a consistent commitment to excellence and driving above average value to the American public through strategic vision, innovation and achievement.

Founded by Walter J. Zable in 1951, Cubic grew from a small San Diego electronics company to more than a billion dollars in revenue with very little outside-invested capital. “Walter was a great leader with a true entrepreneurial spirit that left us with a legacy of hard work and innovation,” said Feldmann.

Feldmann is working diligently to increase employee engagement by implementing a number of initiatives and programs, some of which directly relate to innovation. His focus is building a strong culture of passionate people who know their customer and always put the customer first.

“We must win the customer,” Feldmann said, echoing the updated company vision that has become a mantra of sorts for employees at Cubic. Through the vision and values system, Feldmann aims to achieve an unprecedented culture of innovation.

While Cubic is a U.S.-based corporation headquartered in San Diego, California, it has a global presence in nearly 60 countries. Feldmann has been determined to ensure the company’s strategic vision and commitment to develop a rich culture of innovation is pervasive at its locations around the globe.

Memorial Day is an American holiday observed on the last Monday of May to honor the men and women that made the ultimate sacrifice and died while serving in the United States military. It dates back to America’s bloodiest war, the civil war, which claimed over 600,000 lives.

Armed Forces Day, 2014

It was the efforts of President Harry S. Truman that led to the establishment of Armed Forces Day, a single holiday where citizens can come together to thank our military for their patriotic service in support of the United States of America.

Prior to August 31, 1949, when Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day, there were separate appreciation days for the Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines. This single day celebration released when the Department of Defense unified with Armed Forces under its wing.
