In their celebration of the Tube’s 150th anniversary, the Guardian is putting together a playlist of songs which are loosely about the London Underground.  Ideally, their goal is to feature a song for each of the 270 station stops – and we find that even such unlikely station names as Whetstone are mentioned in songs!  The creativity is wonderful! We are very excited to announce that the world’s largest open payment system for transportation is now live! This is the first major step in our ambitious project to enable London’s entire transportation network to accept payment via contactless credit and debit cards. 

 Cubic Corporation has acquired a Special Operation Forces training business from NEK Advanced Securities Group, Inc. One piece of our Nextcity vision is the ability to pay for all modes of transportation with one form of media.  This includes paying for train, ferry and bus fare, parking, tolls and even bike and car shares.  There are some cities that are taking steps in the right direction to make payment integration seamless between modes. 

 Today for the first time ever, London transit users can use a “wave & pay” contactless bank card to pay for their bus fares in London. It costs the same as using an Oyster Card. The “wave & pay” card is a solution to the frequent problem of users running to board a bus only to find that their contactless, preloaded “Oyster Card” has run out of credit.

The long awaited and much anticipated trial of the New South Wales Government’s smartcard, electronic ticketing system will commence on Friday Dec. 7, 2012 with the first customer trial on the Neutral Bay Ferry Service.

The opal card is a new, reloadable credit card style system that enables commuters and tourists to tap on the electronic reader at the start of the journey and tap off at the end of the journey, provided by Cubic Transportation Systems.

What is sequestration? Sequestration is a threat to our national security. It was created in the summer of 2012 when the United States government generated ideas to balance the budget. These dramatic cuts threaten not only the defense department, but also other federal government agencies.
