Reduced military budgets have driven military leaders to seek less expensive ways to train their troops. The solution leaders are coming to realize is simulated training, which is proving to be more efficient than its live training counterpart. The up and coming trend has elevated simulated training advancements to a level never seen before, making contemporary training systems more efficient and less expensive than ever.
Modern day simulated training consists of live, virtual and constructive (LVC) experiences in a networked environment, allowing military to train wherever they are around the globe by combining live and simulated experiences. These live, virtual and constructive experiences are used for the development of basic skills so that troops enter live training more prepared at a much lower cost.
Examples of savings can be taken from a live training scenario, where troops travel to national training centers, typically costing about $25 million. Travel costs alone in this scenario amount to $20 million, a cost that simulated training promises to save.
One of Cubic’s latest innovations, the Joint Fires Integrated Training Environment or Immersive training Dome recently showcased at the Association of the United States Army exhibition offers a state-of-the-art simulated deployable training solution. Troops can quickly assemble the dome and train nearly anywhere around the globe, wherever they might be- changing from one training mission to the next. Additionally, with another Cubic innovation called the Mission Rehearsal Planning System, leaders can test multiple training scenarios at once while a simulation is running.
Although nothing can replace the value of live training, simulated training systems are helping to better prepare our military for a decreasing amount of live training exercises.
