2000 Marksmanship Trainers Delivered to Jordan
Cubic recently
completed delivery of 15 EST 2000 Engagement Skills Trainers to the
Kingdom of Jordan. In January, Cubic technicians installed
systems at the Royal Military Academy and the Infantry School near
Amman, representing the initial
fielding of the EST2000 for the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF).
At the request of the JAF, Cubic expedited delivery of the first two
systems to give the JAF cadre experience with the system prior to its
full fielding this past March. Coordination with PEO STRI, the United
States Army Security Assistance Office, and the Jordanian General Staff
ensured that these initial systems were available for marksmanship
and operator training as quickly as possible.
In March, Cubic returned to Jordan to complete the fielding at 13 additional
sites located throughout the kingdom. Edgar Pinon, installation engineer
for the Orlando-based Cubic Simulation Systems Division, was assisted
by Cubic’s Jordanian subcontractor. JAF officers and the subcontractor’s
management team who had learned how to set up and activate the EST
2000 systems in January now supervised and managed the installations.
As part of the second phase of installations, Cubic provided site-specific
assistance. Resident JAF instructors learned how to integrate the EST
2000 into their local training plans to help meet and sustain marksmanship
proficiency.
“JAF soldiers now have the same training capability as their American counterparts
with EST 2000 systems specifically tailored to meet the needs of the JAF,” said
Steve Kennedy, Cubic program manager for the Jordanian EST 2000.
The systems are now in use throughout the Kingdom, supporting basic training
for new soldiers through advanced marksmanship for internal security forces.
The JAF was honored to host His Majesty King Abdullah II at the Jordanian Special
Air Service School on May 25. During his visit, King Abdullah II had the opportunity
to see Special Forces candidates use the EST 2000 as part of their marksmanship
training.
