Major Components
MILES
2000 components include manworn systems for individual soldiers
and marines as well as combat vehicles (including pyrotechnic
devices), noncombat vehicles, antitank weapons, and pop-up
target interface devices. These components - designed to be
transparent to the training participant - provide higher fidelity
and dramatic savings in life cycle costs.
Components
include:
Individual
Weapons System: Includes small, lightweight components
mounted on either a vest or H-harness; and a Small Arms Transmitter
mounted on the soldier's individual weapon or machine gun.
Combat
Vehicle System:
Features small components and a single cable system. Easy
adaptation to combat vehicles used around the world.
Anti-tank
System: Includes realistic surrogates that closely
replicate the actual size, weight and functionality of the
real weapon. Features accurate replication of the actual sighting
and firing sequences.
Independent
Target System: Adapts
vehicle components to systems such as noncombat vehicles,
generators, bunkers, etc. Time-tags and stores events for
use in MILES 2000 AARs.
Firing
Devices and Pyrotechnics:
Offers new, safe devices and cartridges that simulate
both the firing of the main tank gun as well as signifying
hits on vehicles. The hit simulator can also be used in conjunction
with a CTC-IS to simulate indirect fire.
After-Action
Review System: Gives commanders the ability to conduct
AARs based on objective information. Provides the capability
to modify the configuration of the MILES 2000 equipment.
