Purpose:
To protect the MILES 2000 H-Harness DPCU against premature
battery depletion.
Background: On some DPCUs the keypad flex cable makes
contact with the cover causing unintentional intermittent
inputs to the microprocessor. This causes the processor
to remain in Processing mode instead of going into Idle
or Sleep mode. The extra time in processing mode depletes
the battery unnecessarily and may cause the processor
to be too busy to respond to a real key press. A new
and improved keypad with flex cable will be installed
in 2005 that prevents the unwanted electrical contact.
Recommendation: Install or verify this field repair
when replacing the DPCU Battery. (This change is not
necessary for H-Harnesses built with the new keypad and
flex cable. Both sides of the new flex cable will be
smooth and shiny. The old flex was smooth and shiny on
one side but dull on the other.)
