1. Locate connector P3 on
cable assembly 147959-1.
(P3 is the 9 pin "D" connector
with 2 cables connected to it.

2. Remove the 2 screws hold-
ing P3 together, using the
screw driver.

3. Open unit as shown to
remove RTV.

4. Remove adhesive sealant
in the backshell area of con-
nector P3, using alcohol,
Q-Tips, and tweezers.

5. Using the XACTO knife,
remove the heat shrink tub-
ing at the splice between
P3 pin 8 and P2 pin 3 AND
between P3 pin 9 and P2
pin 4.

6. Using the soldering iron,
unsolder the splice connection between P3 pin 8 and P2 pin 3.
AND between P3 pin 9 and P2
pin 4.

7. Clean both solder con-
nections above with the
alcohol and Q-tips and Prep
solder connections.

8. Install a short length of
heat shrinkable tubing over
the P3 pin 8 wire and P3 pin
9 wire.

9. Solder the P2 pin 4 wire to
P3 pin 8 and P2 pin 3 wire to
P3 pin 9.

10.Move the heat shrinkable
tubing so that it completely
insulated the splices at P3
pin 3 and P3 pin 4.

11. Using the heat gun,
shrink the shrinkable tubing
at the above splices
completely.

12.Pot connector P3 back-
shell area, after alteration is
complete, with adhesive
sealant. Re-assemble con-
nector P3, install and tighten
screws removed in step 2.

 

13. Using a multimeter,
verify continuity between
P2 pin 4 and P3 pin 8. Also
verify continuity between
P2 pin 3 and P3 pin 9.
