| The
Cubic Model L1470-10 Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG)
is a dual channel arbitrary waveform generator that includes
two digital (TTL) channels and two analog channels. This provides
dual channel capability for either TTL or analog signals as
required. Optionally, a mode is available that allows a single
channel to provide both TTL and analog outputs. This extended
VME format, high performance unit finds uses as both a general
laboratory test instrument and in the generation of complex
radar and communications signals. Built in programmable clocks
with continuously variable frequencies from 10 MHz to 120 MHz
provide for high sample rates. Independent operation of all
channels or synchronization of one or more channels is possible.
Sample clock frequencies may be obtained that are lower than
10 MHz by the use of built in divider chains.
The AWG contains a daughter board connector that can be
used for special functions or user required options.
In TTL mode the generator has a memory depth of 32k. Each
of the 32k pulse descriptors (pulse width and interval between
pulses) may be repeated as many as 64k times. This provides
easy creation of complex pulse bursts. Sequences may be created
that include one or more pulse descriptors and these sequences
may be repeated up to 64k times. Sequences may be chained
together to produce unique pulse patterns. Long pulses may
be created by programming the pulse width and pulse interval
to the same value and repeating this descriptor. Long intervals
may be created by programming a 0 pulse width and a pulse
interval and repeating that interval.
In the analog mode, up to 64k memory depth is available
with each point being definable by the user. The amplitude
of each point is a 10 bit binary word, therefore, 1024 individual
amplitude points are available. Optional software is available
that will provide the creation of standard waveforms including
those replicating antenna scan patterns.
