Cubic Receives Potential $4.8 Million Contract to Educate International Students at Fort Benning
SAN DIEGO, California - December 1, 2008 -- Cubic Applications, Inc. (CAI), the mission support services business of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB), has been awarded a new contract with a potential value of $4.8 million to continue educational services to the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) at Fort Benning, Georgia.
WHINSEC is an important element of U.S. engagement with allied nations in the Western Hemisphere. Students from throughout the Western Hemisphere undergo the same educational experience that U.S. officers receive through the Intermediate Level Education (ILE) program at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. The course of study includes U.S. military organization, doctrine and procedures, as well as human rights and democracy as practiced in the United States.
For the past four years, Cubic has provided an essential link between WHINSEC and CGSC, facilitating the transfer of courseware between the two schools, and organizing and preparing courseware at WHINSEC. The new contract extends Cubic's support for one base year plus three option years.
Under the new contract, Cubic will obtain and organize ILE courseware from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC), coordinate the translation of courseware from English to Spanish, and support Spanish-language instruction at Fort Benning. Cubic will also provide curriculum development services, maintain archives of instructional materials, advise WHINSEC on future educational and technical processes, and operate and maintain the educational support and classroom digital networks used in ILE instruction.
Cubic personnel located at Cubic's Training and Education Division, based in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and at Fort Benning will perform the work. Subcontractors from Triple-I Corporation will supply information technology services to the Cubic team at Fort Benning.
