Cubic Delivers $4 Million Radio Communications System to Canadian Forces Base Wainwright

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - July 28, 2008 -- Cubic Defense Applications, a defense unit of Cubic Corporation (Amex: CUB), recently installed a new Voice Communication System at the Canadian Weapon Effects Simulation (CWES) training facility at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Wainwright, Alberta, Canada. Ordered by the Canadian Department of National Defence, the new, $4 million system is now operational.

The new system, supplied by M/A-Com under subcontract to Cubic, will provide communications for many purposes including range control, base maintenance crews, emergency response and other base operations. Additionally, the new system will be used by observer/controllers -- Canadian Forces officers who monitor military units participating in combat training exercises at CFB Wainwright and provide advice and assessment of each unit's knowledge of doctrine, tactics and procedures. Cubic's new system allows the observer/controllers to communicate with one another and with Cubic-provided observer analysts during training.

Cubic installed the new system as prime contractor for CWES. Under an earlier contract, Cubic delivered an exercise control (EXCON) Building, a Logistic Support Building, and laser-based combat training systems for soldiers and vehicles. The technology allows the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre to conduct military exercises involving up to 2,000 soldiers and 700 vehicles.

Cubic Corporation's Canadian subsidiary, Cubic Field Services Canada, Ltd., supplies observer analysts for CWES training exercises under a 2003 contract, which includes 10 years of contracted logistic support.

Cubic Field Services Canada, Ltd., also provides logistics and mission support at CFB Cold Lake, CFB Bagotville, CFB Gagetown, and for the British Army Training Unit Suffield (BATUS) in Alberta, Canada.

Cubic Defense Applications is part of Cubic's defense segment, a world leader in realistic combat training systems, mission support services and defense electronics. The corporation's other major segment, Cubic Transportation Systems, designs and manufactures automatic fare collection systems for public mass transit authorities.
