Communications Products Orders
SAN DIEGO, California – August
4, 2009 - Cubic Defense Applications, the defense systems
business
of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB), reported that its Communications
business unit has received multiple orders for power amplifiers,
communications receivers and DF (Direction Finding) systems
this fiscal year.
Cubic’s largest order is from long-time customer Rockwell
Collins of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Under a new three-year contract
worth more than $8 million, Cubic will supply multiple 4
kilowatt power amplifiers for the U.S. Coast Guard as well
as 1 Kw power amplifiers for domestic and international customers.
Deliveries begin in August 2009.
Rockwell Collins of Richardson, Texas, placed a $2 million-plus
order for power amplifiers for the U.S. Air Force and
Navy High Frequency Global Communications System
(HFGCS). This
equipment is scheduled for delivery in August 2009.
Cubic also has received orders from Argon ST for multiple
sets of receivers for delivery by September 2009. Argon
is the prime contractor for Ship’s Signal Exploitation
Equipment (SSEE) Increment E, which is the most modern and
extensive communications intelligence system that is deployed
on U.S. Navy surface ships. This contract has resulted in
orders of nearly $6 million over the past few years.
Cubic continues to see strong demand for its direction
finding processors and antennas in international
markets. Over $2
million in orders of these products have been received
expected from large customers, including the French
Army. DF systems
are used in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance
and support allied forces in their overseas missions.
