Expert Integration Service

Expert Integration is a professional service we offer to assist you with your initial Vocality RolP installation and turn-up. Our senior support engineers have extensive experience with Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and LTE Push-to-Talk (PTT) services, networking and communications equipment, and protocols used in voice interoperability solutions. They will work with you to schedule a worry-free installation and support you remotely with talk-group creation, audio port tuning, Transport Layer Security (TLS), and secure tunnels. Use this form to schedule your installation appointment. Warranty Claims

All Vocality products come with a 5-year warranty from the date of purchase. The warranty includes telephone support, software updates and hardware support.

Contact Vocality Technical Support and one of our technicians will confirm the warranty status of the unit and help you with your problem. If a repair is required an RMA number will be issued and address information provided to return the unit.

Upon receipt of the product, we will contact a full test and provide you with e a repair report outlining the fault that was found and the steps that were taken to repair the unit.

Please note -  Warranty does not cover products being struck by lightning, power surges or physical damage.

What are the dimensions of a Vocality RoIP?

The Vocality RoIP is 1 inch high by 4 inches across by 4 inches deep. 1"H x 4"W x 4"D

What is a Vocality RoIP Connect?

A Vocality RoIP Connect is a 4 port expansion module that can be connected to a Vocality RoIP using a USB cable. No additional power or cables are required. All additional ports will be displayed in the Vocality RoIP management interface. All additional ports are automatically displayed in the Vocality RoIP management interface when the Connect is attached to the Vocality RoIP.

Does the Vocality RoIP fit in a standard rack?

An optional rackmount bracket can be purchased to mount one Vocality RoIP and 2 additional Connect modules. This fits a standard 19 inch rack and is one rack unit high.

Is the Vocality RoIP FirstNet Ready?

Yes. The Vocality RoIP has been certified by AT&T for use on the FirstNet network.

Is the Vocality RoIP FCC, CE, IC and FIPS-140 compliant?

Yes. The Vocality RoIP Vocality has been independently tested and verified. A full list of model numbers and the specifications they meet can be found here.

What is SIP?

Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a signaling protocol used for initiating, maintaining, modifying and terminating real-time sessions that involve video, voice, messaging and other communications applications and services between two or more endpoints on IP networks.

Is the Vocality RoIP compatible with SIP?

Are you compatible with Motorola platforms?

The Vocality RoIP interoperates with Motorola Solutions Kodiak, WAVE, WAVE on Cloud, and Critical Connect platforms.

Can I connect my IP PBX to the Vocality RoIP?

Yes. The Vocality RoIP is compatible with SIP based IP PBX systems.
 

What PBX brands and models does the Vocality RoIP work with?

The Vocality RoIP is compatible with many brands of IP PBX. Some of the most common ones are 3CX, Asterisk, Avaya, Cisco Call Manager, FreeSwitch, and Juniper VoIP.

What Dispatch services does the Vocality RoIP work with?

Yes. The Vocality RoIP is compatible with many dispatch clients and media servers.
 

Do you interoperate with Motorola's Kodiak WAVE Service?

Yes. We have worked with Motorola Solutions to ensure interoperability and support of key capabilities such as TLS.

What is a Media Server?

A Media Server is used in PoC solutions that are offered by LTE mobile carriers. The Media Server is the cloud host which communicates with the PoC apps.

What version of Motorola Solutions Kodiak server do you support?

The Vocality RoIP interoperates with Motorola Solutions Kodiak server 9.0 and higher.

How does the Vocality RoIP work with an IP PBX?

The Vocality RoIP is a SIP endpoint or User Agent that connects to the IP PBX.

Does the Vocality RoIP work with Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) networks

Yes. Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) is an open and published international digital radio standard. The Vocality RoIP is interoperable with DMR radio networks. Connecting a donor radio from a DMR network to a Vocality RoIP will allow voice communications to be bridged to other talk groups and services connected through the Vocality RoIP. The Vocality RoIP does not pass the status messaging or short format digital messaging of DMR.
 

Does the Vocality RoIP work with TETRA networks?

Yes. Terrestrial Trunked Radio, or TETRA, is a suite of standards for digital communications. Connecting a donor radio from a Tetra network to a Vocality RoIP will allow voice communications to be bridged to other talk groups and services connected through the Vocality RoIP. The Vocality RoIP does not pass the status messaging or short format digital messaging of Tetra.
 

Does the Vocality RoIP support TETRA Encryption Algorithm?

The TETRA donor radio connected to the Vocality RoIP will natively support the TETRA Encryption Algorithm. The Vocality RoIP does not need to support the TETRA Encryption Algorithm, as it only transmits audio received from the donor radio.

Does the Vocality RoIP support P.25 encryption?

The P.25 donor radio connected to the Vocality RoIP will natively support the P.25 encryption. The Vocality RoIP does not need to support the P.25 encryption, as it only transmits audio received from the donor radio.

How does the Vocality RoIP support voice recording?

The Vocality RoIP can provide a UDP audio stream to an external voice recorder.
 

Do you have a Secure Software option?

Yes. You can connect your Vocality RoIP to a media server using a VPN tunnel over the Internet. You can connect your Vocality RoIP to a Motorola Solutions Kodiak service using TLS.

What is TLS?

Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a cryptographic protocol designed to provide communications security over a computer network. TLS is a way of protecting Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) application signaling.

Does the Vocality RoIP support serial connections?

The Vocality RoIP has one serial port connector. With a break out cable you can connect up to 4 individual serial ports. Each Vocality RoIP Connect has one serial port connector and also uses a breakout cable that supports up to 4 individual serial ports. The active serial port count corresponds to the audio port count.

Does the Vocality RoIP support Public Address (PA) systems?

Yes. The Vocality RoIP can be connected to Public Address systems that are also connected to IP PBXs. The most common use case is for the announcements heard over a PA to also play over radio handsets. This can easily be accomplished with a Vocality RoIP.
 

Does the Vocality RoIP support cross-banding?

Yes. By connecting multiple radios on different bands into a Vocality solution, different radio networks can be cross-connected. Each radio network must have a donor radio connected to one port of the Vocality RoIP.

Push-to-talk over Cellular
How do I connect my LTE phones to a LMR talk group?

If you want to connect your LMR radios to an LTE network, you must subscribe to a push-to-talk LTE service, like ePTT offered by AT&T or PTT+ offered by Verizon. These carriers, and many others, host cloud-based Push-to-talk Over Cellular (PoC) services. Once you have PoC service and your Vocality RoIP is installed, through the Vocality RoIP user interface you can configure your talk groups.
 

How do I get Push-to-talk over Cellular (PoC) Service for my LTE phones?

You must subscribe to Push-to-talk Over Cellular (PoC) through your cellular service provider.

What carrier Push-to-talk over Cellular (PoC) services work with the Vocality RoIP?

The Vocality RoIP can interoperate with many carriers PoC services to include AT&T's ePTT, Verizon's PTT+, Sprint's Direct Connect Plus, FirstNet, as well as many more international services. If you have a question about a specific service, please contact the Cubic sales team.

Why do I need donor radios?

Donor radios are needed to relay audio through the Vocality RoIP to other radio networks, systems or PoC.

How do I connect my donor radios to the Vocality RoIP?

Using accessory cables you can connect your donor radios to the ports labeled 1, 2, 3, and 4 on the front of the Vocality RoIP.

Do you provide donor radio cables?

Cubic supply accessory cables to connect your Vocality RoIP to your donor radios. Cubic sells radio over 300 cables to connect over 4000 different brands and models of LMR radios.

What radio brands and models do you work with?

The Vocality RoIP works with nearly any radio that is equipped with an external port for a speaker and microphone connection. We have experience with all the major radio brands.

Does the Vocality RoIP work with P.25 radios?

Yes. P25, also known as Project 25 or APCO-25, is a suite of standards for digital communications. The Vocality RoIP interoperates with P25 radio networks.
 

Does the Vocality RoIP work with military radios?

Yes. The Vocality RoIP works with nearly any radio that is equipped with an external port for a speaker and microphone connection. The Vocality RoIP works with many military radios. 
 

Connectivity
How do I use the Vocality RoIP as a Wi-Fi hotspot?

The Vocality RoIP requires a USB Wi-Fi adapter to be used as WiFi hotspot. If you have one installed, then your Vocality RoIP will be able to emit Wi-Fi signals as a hotspot. The Wi-Fi adapter is available for purchase or included with the Radio Gateway Extension kit.

How do I connect the Vocality RoIP to my Wi-Fi network?

On the back of the Vocality RoIP there is a USB port. This port can be used to connect the WiFi adapter. The Wi-Fi adapter is available for purchase or included with the Radio Gateway Extension kit.
 

How do I connect the Vocality RoIP to my Satellite network?

On the back of the Vocality RoIP you will see 2 ports labeled ETH1 and ETH2. You can plug an Ethernet cable from your satellite solution into either of these ports to provide a network connection to the Vocality RoIP from the satellite service.
 

What is the Vocality RoIP Failover feature?

The Failover feature allows the Vocality RoIP to automatically switch between networks, including LTE cellular, wire line and satellite access based on user preference, helping to maintain connectivity and increase availability.

Why are not all of my Vocality RoIP ports working?

Most of the time, Vocality RoIPs are sold with all 4 ports activated, however in some instances for a price sensitive installation, the customer may have chosen to only activate one or two ports.
