These mission-inspired capabilities enable assured multi-domain access; converged digital intelligence; and superior readiness for defense, intelligence, security and commercial missions.
Decisive Advantage through Instrumentation to incrementally achieve the Advanced Training Environment (ATE)
P5 SSU: Cubic's P5 System Security Update (SSU) adds Type 1 encryption protection to P5 ACMI pods. The update is a contracted field modification to existing P5 pods to add an encryption unit to existing P5 pods for less than 10% of the cost of alternatives. P5 SSU encrypted signals are directly compatible with Cubic’s F-35 P5 Internal Subsystem (IS) providing untethered Level II integration. Cubic has delivered over 1200 F-35 P5 IS systems and remains the only Air Combat Training System option available for at least the next 5 years. The fielding of 837 P5 SSU field modification kits in combination with the F-35's P5 IS enables a new level of training integration between 4th and 5th Generation aircraft and enables protection of Tactics, Techniques and Procedures at home station or abroad.
P5 Block 7 Update: Cubic is now under contract to deliver P5 Block 7 software updates for USAF P5 pods. Block 7 leverages the SSU encrypted datalink to transmit classified data from aircraft to range systems using the existing P5 SSU hardware and waveform. This capability enables the transfer of weapons, sensor, and other aircraft data to terrestrial networks—unlocking transformative enhancements in both live and post-mission training. Block 7 marks a critical step toward a fully integrated Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training environment by enabling accurate modeling and simulation of weapons, sensors, signatures, and both kinetic and non-kinetic effects.
Synthetic LVC Advanced Training Environment (SLATE) Pod is a proven TRL 7+ pod modification that provides Synthetic Inject-to-Live (SITL) Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) training capability to 4th Gen and rotary wing U.S. DoD platforms. With multiple, successful technical demonstrations—most recently at exercise Valiant Shield 24—SLATE is the only mature blended SITL LVC solution on the market that can provide the mass, complexity, and guising necessary to emulate today’s peer adversary.
Integrating Golden Dome – Optimizing Multi-domain Integrated Air and Missile Defense through reconstruction and data analytics
The Simplified Planning Execution Analysis Reconstruction (SPEAR) common data model has been integral in taking learning beyond the debrief. In the realm of Integrated Air and Missile Defense, SPEAR is a software application used to capture and reconstruct data from multi-service battle management, fire control and weapons systems to optimize insight into the IAMD mission. SPEAR has proven instrumental in developing TTPs, improving Multi-domain Operations (MDO) integration and capturing complete data for mission rehearsal of the Guam Defense System.
Data from disparate systems are captured in their raw form without changing data standards or protocols, saved in a lossless way, displayed as operator focused visual displays, enriched through distributed operator interactions capturing objective and subjective assessments, and saved as a contextualized, complete data set. The resulting mission data file provides a complete mission capture saved and ready for easily understandable presentation. This file is the single point source of a treasure trove of data available for multiple purposes including immediate after-action review, data driven sustainment decisions, readiness assessments, acquisition, deep learning by operators prior to future missions, source data for automation and machine learning algorithms, and more. The "speed to insight" enabled by SPEAR is proving indispensable for IAMD establishment in Guam, leading the way to revolutionary data-driven decisions for the establishment of Golden Dome.
Mobile Advanced Tactical Training Encrypted Range System (MATTERS)
Given the rapid advancements in peer threat capabilities and density, the lack of appropriate, threat representative training environments forward deployed is unacceptable and will result in unfavorable exchange ratios as identified in several DoD mission analyses. MATTERS is a Mobile Advanced Tactical Training Encrypted Range system that can provide a deployable high fidelity Joint and Coalition training capability to prepare DoD and Coalition warfighters for a potential conflict while providing enhanced force posture. The MATTERS system is designed for rapid establishment of secure live high-fidelity instrumentation, deployable simulators, constructive scenarios generator capability, and advanced data capture for reconstruction and data analysis of operational and training missions.
MATTERS provides turnkey secure SITL LVC training in a C-17 Roll On/Roll Off package for deployment to support INDOPACOM, EUCOM and international exercises, USAF Agile Combat Employment events, and US Navy 3rd and 7th Fleet forward exercises.
SPEAR – Accelerating the Multi-domain OODA Loop
Cubic’s Simplified, Planning Execution Analysis and Reconstruction (SPEAR) common data model (CDM) represents a generational leap forward in live monitor and debrief capability from its predecessor—the Individual Combat Aircrew Display System (ICADS).
SPEAR moves beyond simply identifying what happened to uncovering why it happened—accelerating the OODA loop in multi-domain training and operations. SPEAR captures all objective and subjective data in a time-synchronized mission log, supporting detailed post-event debriefs and long-term training refinement. Through optimized displays of both kinetic and non-kinetic effects, SPEAR reduces cognitive burden in debrief and enables deeper analysis. Its server/client architecture allows geographically dispersed users to simultaneously access the same mission, enabling unified mass debriefs across ashore and afloat locations.
Synthetic Inject to Live-Live Virtual Constructive (SITL-LVC)
While the term “LVC” (Live, Virtual, Constructive) has become ubiquitous across the world of military training, Cubic believes that effective LVC must incorporate a blended Synthetic Inject To Live (SITL) capability in order to truly “train like you fight.” Unlike Link Inject To Live (LITL) capabilities, SITL LVC delivers a training environment in which the combat and sensor displays of the live platform are the primary focus. By effectively blocking, passing along, or guising various inputs to aircraft systems, a SITL LVC capability not only incorporates Virtual and Constructive entities, but it does so in a manner that looks, feels, and sounds identical to what aircrew would encounter in live combat.
As Lead System Integrator, Cubic has proven the ability to inject synthetic entities from human-operated simulators (Virtual) and computer-generated-forces (Constructive) into live cockpits: platforms, weapons, and effects across the electromagnetic (EM)/infrared (IR) spectrums. In addition to technical demonstrations on DoD ranges, Cubic has now successfully delivered a Joint MILS NSA Type 1 encrypted SITL-LVC solution using IEEE Open Standard protocols and the U.S. Government owned 5G-ATW waveform through the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) for real-world operations, training, and test west of the International Dateline.
SITL-LVC is an available, high TRL solution for the DoD and our partners/allies to achieve a decisive training advantage against a pacing peer threat for 4th- and 5th- generation platforms. Cubic, our Industry partners, and government have proven that SITL-LVC can be achieved with minimal investment in technologies available today. The SLATE pod improves and is built upon the original P5 CTS / TCTS I tube assembly with a modified internal core. New components include a KOV-135 encryptor, software defined radio (SDR), and LVC Processor that provides advanced live training with dense threat environment and realistic cockpit presentation (advanced guising).
Always Connected. Never Compromised.
Cubic’s Secure Communications solutions deliver adaptive and resilient spectrum dominance with Multi-link, Multi-band, Multi-constellation SATCOM, Software Defined Radios (SDR), and stealthy waveforms that resolve critical gaps in tactical and operational communications. These solutions provide assured and resilient networked communications to platforms in highly contested Electromagnetic Spectrum environments. Cubic accelerates the evolution to open architectures to enable the US Air Force to update communications at the speed of the threat.
